AC Milan improve their bid for Santiago Gimenez
AC Milan and Feyenoord are in advanced negotiations for the transfer of Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican striker has already agreed personal terms.
January has been quite a slow month on the transfer market for AC Milan unlike what many expected. The Rossoneri are in clear need of quality reinforcements as demonstrated on a weekly basis by their struggles in Serie A. However, so far, AC Milan have closed only the arrival of Kyle Walker on loan from Manchester City (their fifth right back in squad) while Luka Romero left the clubs on a permanent transfer.
Sergio Conceicao has reiterated the urgency to bring in fresh legs with the midfield and attack the two areas in need of urgent signings. AC Milan failed to sign a back-up for Youssouf Fofana during the summer and are now paying the price with the French midfielder squeezed out of energy. The situation is equally dire in attack with AC Milan having turned their attention to Santiago Gimenez as the immediate solution to their goal scoring problems.
Christian Pulisc and Tijjani Reijnders top AC Milan’s goal scoring charts while the centre forward are much behind. Both Morata and Abraham have scored only 6 goals each while Jovic and Camarda are still in search of their first this season. For obvious reasons, AC Milan have opened talks to sign Santiago Gimenez. The 23-year-old has been a force of nature since he joined Feyenoord in the summer of 2022.
AC Milan and Santiago Gimenez has already an agreement on personal terms with the player having accepted a long term contract at around €2.5 million plus add-ons. However, the Dutch club are reluctant to part ways with their most prized asset also due to their great Champions League campaign so far. After having had an opening bid rejected, AC Milan have sent an improved offer for Santiago Gimenez reports Gazzetta dello Sport with Ibrahimovic sparing no praise for the Mexican in a recent interview.
The initial bid was €28 million while now AC Milan have increased their offer to €35 million to secure the services of Santiago Gimenez reports Gazzetta. The player and his agent are pushing with Feyenoord to have this improved bid accepted but the Dutch club value the player at €40 million.
The Rossoneri are anxiously waiting to understand if Feyenoord will accept their proposal as it will likely be the last they make for Gimenez. The 23-year-old is having another great season having scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 appearances so far. Gimenez has played a key part in Feyenoord’s unexpected Champions League run as demonstrated by his brace against Bayern Munich. If Feyenoord insist on keeping Gimenez then AC Milan will likely push the important investment in attack for next season rather than signing another player according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
